Juan Hernandez Guitars was established in 2001 under the Esteve Banner by Juan Hernandez Iranzo (b. 1948) who began as an apprentice Francisco Esteve workshop at age 15, and rose to become the production manager at esteve. In his personal workshop, Juan handcrafted his own line of classical and flamenco guitars. Following closely in his father's footsteps, Alberto Hernandez Monfort, (b. 1979), began as an apprentice Esteve in 1994, rapidly achieved his certification, and joining his father's workshop.

When Juan Hernandez stepped down, Alberto became the Esteve's production manager, and head luthier at Juan Hernandez Guitars, where he continues to personally fashion the models that bear his signature. Alberto has, without a doubt, evolved into a genuine master guitar maker. His expertise spans a diverse spectrum of models, drawing inspiration from revered masters such as Torres and Hauser, alongside innovations like double tops and latticed bracing, among an array of others. Alberto consistently produces exquisite instruments celebrated for their unparalleled quality, intricate craftsmanship, flawless finishing, and exceptional resonance.

His Romanillos model is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail and using high-quality tonewoods, and its tone can be best described as exceptionally warm, balanced, and full-bodied. Its rich resonant bass notes are deep and full, yet clear and well-defined. The mid-range tones are warm and lush, with great separation allowing for intricate melodies to be expressed with clarity and nuance. The high notes are sweet and singing, providing a brilliant sparkle to the overall sound without being overly sharp or piercing. This model is very responsiveness, and has a wide dynamic range, and excellent palette of colors, and so responds to the subtlest nuances in touch and technique, allowing player to convey a broad spectrum of emotions.
